Welcome back! I’m Conman, the creator behind Arcade Convoy. Wondering what Arcade Convoy is all about? It all began with Shape Shifter, my unique take on Tetris. I transformed Shape Shifter into a multi-faceted game, offering hundreds of game types and challenges. As Shape Shifter evolved, I developed more games, incorporating its features into them, which led to Arcade Convoy. This 16-bit DirectDraw game, which I started in 2000, has been enhanced over the past 25 years. Join me to witness the evolution of my gaming world!
Arcade Convoy features seven game sets with various game types. We have Roto Lines, a challenging color-matching game, and a collection of card games including the Virtual Deck, allowing users to create their own card games. There are also Domino and Checkers games. Space Racer is a fast-paced side-scrolling racing game, and Brick Buster is a breakout-style game where you control the ball, gaining power and maneuverability by hitting paddles and destroying blocks. All these games incorporate elements from Shape Shifter. Finally, there’s Shape Shifter itself, the best 4-player co-op Tetris game you’ll ever play.
In addition to these games, you’ll gain access to every tool I use to create my games. You can create your own levels, Brick Buster arenas, Space Racer objects, card games, and even new shapes and textures. You can add all the music you want. The Shape Shifter game type creator allows you to create or edit your own Shape Shifter games. The interface gives you access to hundreds of options to create your own game types, challenges, or convoys. You can save and share your new Tetris game with others. Arcade Convoy includes co-op support, ample controller support, and killer tunes with Arcade Convoy Radio.

All my games offer entertainment, but Shape Shifter, the highlight, captivates many. Let’s explore why Shape Shifter stands out as a unique and compelling Tetris game. Though it’s impossible to detail all features in one go, here’s a glimpse of how I evolved Tetris from a simple single-player game into the dynamic, four-player arcade experience that is Shape Shifter.
A key innovation is the use of multiple shapes, known as tetrominoes in Tetris. The arena (well) can host up to four shapes simultaneously. These shapes can be active or inactive, with active shapes either controlled by players or AI working together to clear the arena. Inactive shapes slowly drop into the arena, waiting for their turn to become active through player switching or by completing a drop.
More than this, we introduce ghost shapes, which are not mere shadows like in traditional Tetris. My ghost shapes are agile, spawning from any active shape. An active shape can release up to eight additional shapes into the arena. These ghost shapes, controlled by AI, land swiftly, challenging players to quickly adjust to changes and strategically manage their space.
To prevent overcrowding with all these elements, I’ve incorporated wrap-around into the arena. Wrap-around lets shapes teleport from one side wall to the other, easing congestion and multiplying landing options, as shapes can appear on either side of the arena simultaneously.
With these foundations and its myriad options, Shape Shifter offers an endless variety of game types. Beyond Tetris, these mechanics enrich a slew of games I’ve developed, such as Tetricon Poker, Kings, Spades, Mega Tunnel Sprint, and Brick Buster. Dive in and perhaps discover your new favorite.
